IVA Ladies Volleyball: Super Spike 18 Tournament

Infinity Volleyball Academy hosted its first 2010 tournament event last Sunday at PSC Highpoint in Chalfont, and we captured a great day of intense volleyball competition among 18U and 17U club teams, including those from Synergy, X-Court, Mystique, and Allegro.   Complete photo coverage will be posted soon in our online proofing galleries.  Meanwhile, we’ve included 30 images right here in a Lightbox Gallery highlighting competitive moments and fun times from Sunday’s tournament:

The next ladies volleyball tournament on our schedule this winter is March 7, when IVA hosts a 14U event at PSC Highpoint.  Good Luck ladies!!!

A Look at 2010 Winter Sports: From High School Hardwood to Wrestling Mats and Swimming Lanes…

What is it about the High School Winter Sports Season that gives the illusion that it’s winding down just as it gets underway? Perhaps the school break for Christmas and New Year’s plays a big role… but every year we feel the same way, and this year is no different. With only two weeks remaining in “regular season” schedules, we’re likely to have a busy two weeks ahead! Yet we’re still planning to capture more world-class “Winter Sports” images — whether they be on the high school hardwood, on the wrestling mats, or in the swimming lanes.

This season’s winter sports coverage actually began back in early December, when we photographed the cover image for the C.B. East Mens basketball program book. And as our schedule permits, we’ve been capturing winter sports images during C.B. East basketball, wrestling and swimming competitions.  A complete set of 2010 season images for each winter sport will be posted in our new online proofing galleries at www.david-nicholas.net within the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile, here’s a random sampling of 40 winter sports images we’ve captured this season — displayed in a Lightbox Gallery format that’s new to our blog in 2010.

Simply click on any of the thumbnail images above to view an enlargement… then you can move forward (or backward) to view the next (or previous) enlargement in the image sequence.  You can close the enlarged view at any time if you’d like to return to the Lightbox / thumbnail view.  Enjoy!!!

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!!!

In more ways than one, it’s been looking a LOT like Christmas here in our studio offices, as we’ve been feverishly busy fulfilling orders for Christmas delivery!  And this past weekend, Mother Nature joined the program too with a pre-Christmas blizzard followed by a forecast of continued cold temperatures that promise to give us a White Christmas this year — just like the kind that re-awaken wonderful, childhood memories of this festive Holiday.

Naturally, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to capture a “winter portrait” of our now 30-month old black lab, Zuke, in the snow.  But understandably, all good things take time.

Of course, before getting down to serious business, Zuke needed some time to have fun in the snow!

Of course... before getting down to serious portrait business, Zuke needs some fun time to romp in the freshly fallen snow!

Zuke being silly -- checking out my attempts to get down at his level with my camera.

Zuke, being the ever-curious soul that he is, gets up close and personal with the camera.

And finally, after several minutes of puppy chicanery, Zuke cooperated for this lovely winter portrait in the snow!

And finally, after many predictable moments of puppy chicanery in the snow, Zuke settles down and cooperates for this lovely winter portrait amidst a background of Winter White, snow-covered evergreens!

Even for dogs, a model's life is tough work! So shortly after his outdoor photo session, Zuke snuggles into his favorite spot in my office.

A closer look reveals Zuke is well on his way to an afternoon's nap -- perhaps even with visions of sugar-plums dancing in his head!

We here at David Nicholas Photography & Design want to take this moment to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!!!  A big heartfelt “Thank You!” goes out to all our clients for helping make 2009 an exciting year for us.  We hope everyone has enjoyed our world of image-making, as much as we’ve enjoyed bringing great images to you.  Watch this space closely — and frequently — for more exciting offerings in 2010!
