C.B. East Patriots Basketball: January 2011 Highlights

Earlier this season, an on-location David Nicholas Photography & Design photo session at Cenral Bucks East High School produced the cover image for the C.B. East Mens Basketball 2010/2011 Season Program Book, featured below:

Any team member or family interested in ordering a poster-sized version of the program cover is welcome to contact the studio at 215-340-7552, and we’ll be happy to discuss several sizes, print finishes and mount options.

Meanwhile, we’ve photographed several Varsity basketball home games this season, and game-action images (also including the school’s dance troupe and cheer squad) have been posted to the Central Bucks East Mens Basketball 2010/2011 Season photo gallery for online viewing. As an added bonus, we’ve also produced one of our signature, HD multi-media WebShows featuring 50 select images from the 2011 season thus far. So turn up the volume at your workstation and enjoy our video!!!

The Patriots’ record is now 9-5 overall, and they’re currently riding a 7-game winning streak beginning with their tremendous 52-50 win at the buzzer over rival C.B. West to a standing-room only crowd on January 7th. The team’s most recent win came this past Tuesday with a 55-52 score over Hatboro-Horsham — giving the Patriots a 2-game sweep over the Hatters for the 2011 season.

A Look at 2010 Winter Sports: From High School Hardwood to Wrestling Mats and Swimming Lanes…

What is it about the High School Winter Sports Season that gives the illusion that it’s winding down just as it gets underway? Perhaps the school break for Christmas and New Year’s plays a big role… but every year we feel the same way, and this year is no different. With only two weeks remaining in “regular season” schedules, we’re likely to have a busy two weeks ahead! Yet we’re still planning to capture more world-class “Winter Sports” images — whether they be on the high school hardwood, on the wrestling mats, or in the swimming lanes.

This season’s winter sports coverage actually began back in early December, when we photographed the cover image for the C.B. East Mens basketball program book. And as our schedule permits, we’ve been capturing winter sports images during C.B. East basketball, wrestling and swimming competitions.  A complete set of 2010 season images for each winter sport will be posted in our new online proofing galleries at www.david-nicholas.net within the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile, here’s a random sampling of 40 winter sports images we’ve captured this season — displayed in a Lightbox Gallery format that’s new to our blog in 2010.

Simply click on any of the thumbnail images above to view an enlargement… then you can move forward (or backward) to view the next (or previous) enlargement in the image sequence.  You can close the enlarged view at any time if you’d like to return to the Lightbox / thumbnail view.  Enjoy!!!

C.B. East Lady Patriots Set Sights on PIAA State Tournament After District Playback Victory!

Wednesday night delivered the #7-seed Lady Patriots of Central Bucks East a much-deserved, tournament playback victory — this time over #3-seed Council Rock North, bringing their 2008/2009 season record to 23-3.  And after this Saturday’s contest with #8-Seed West Chester Henderson to determine a 5th-place ranking in the District 1 Tournament, it’s off to the State Tournament where they have already secured a berth from earlier District 1 Tournament victories.

Wednesday evening’s game was played at Council Rock South High School, so we able to capture some rare (by high school standards) vantage points from the school’s mezzanine level overlooking the basketball court.  A few images highlighting game action as well as some post-game fun are included here…

More images from regular-season and post-season games can be found in the C.B. East Ladies Varsity Basketball 2009 Season photo gallery located in the online proofing section of our website.  We wish the Lady Patriots much continued success in the remaining District 1 game and upcoming PIAA State Tournament!

Germantown Academy Patriots Basketball Delivers Stand-Out Performances in Tournament Play!

Many of you have come to know us through our sports coverage of the Patriots from Central Bucks East. However, just about 15 miles away is home for another school of Patriots residing at Germantown Academy in Fort Washington, PA.  And this past weekend, GA’s Mens and Ladies high school varsity basketball teams competed in their respective semi-final and championship games of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Basketball Tournament at Malvern Prep in Malvern, PA.

Images from the Lady Patriots championship victory over Notre Dame can be found in the Germantown Academy Ladies Basketball 2009 photo gallery, located in the online proofing section of our website. A few image highlights from the championship game are included below, beginning with a strikingly back-lit image of Malvern Prep’s banner-sized “Stars-and-Stripes”… courtesy of Saturday’s late-afternoon sun hitting the flag-draped, gymnasium window:

Our Germantown Academy mens tournament coverage included both the Friday evening semi-final game against The Hill School (GA winning by a comfortable 14-point margin, 78-64) as well as the championship game against Friends Central (in which a 58-53 GA lead precariously slipped away in the final seconds of overtime, resulting in a 58-60 final score).  Complete photo coverage of several GA mens games (regular and post-season) can be found in the Germantown Academy Mens Basketball 2009 photo gallery, also located in the online proofing section of our website.

A few image highlights from Friday evening’s game vs. The Hill School…

And a few highlights from Saturday afternoon’s game vs. Friends Central…

Congratulations to both GA teams for an outstanding 2008/2009 basketball season!!!

Patriots Basketball: Double OT Loss to North Penn Ends Tough Week for C.B. East Mens Varsity

Thus far, January has not been kind to the Patriots.  After starting their 2008-2009 basketball season last month with six consecutive wins, the Patriots now find themselves with a mid-season 6-5 overall record (4-3 in the SOL Continental Conference) — needing to shake off a string of recent losses to C.B. West, Souderton, C.B. South, Pennsbury,  and North Penn.

Image highlights from the Patriot’s basketball season will be posted in the online proofing galleries of our website, in the gallery entitled:  C.B. East Mens Basketball 2009 Season.  Meanwhile, here are a few image previews — created through a unique combination of off-camera lighting along with special post-processing to give these images an artistic, vintage “look-and-feel”… complete with just the right touch of nostalgia for looking back on these in years to come.  Enjoy!!!

From Tuesday evening’s C.B. South game…

From Thursday afternoon’s Pennsbury game…

From Friday evening’s North Penn game…

And during the half-time break at Friday evening’s game, fans were treated to a performance by the wonderfully talented C.B. East dance troupe…

Coming up this week, the Patriots will look to regain the winning rhythm that started their season — with games against Quakertown, Pennridge and William Tennent.  Best of luck, gentlemen!!!
