CBE Lacrosse: 2011 Marks 2nd Time in 5 Years That Patriots Advance to PIAA State Semi-Finals for Mens LAX

It’s only natural for a team to feel a sense of disappointment when they don’t come up on the winning side of the final score, which is what happened to the Patriots this past Tuesday afternoon at the hands of defending state champion Conestoga. But in retrospect, 2011 marked the 2nd time in five years that the C.B. East Mens LAX program has advanced to the PIAA state semi-final level, an accomplishment that should leave this year’s team feeling extremely proud. Our final HD WebShow this season for C.B. East LAX highlights the terrific effort put forth by this year’s Patriots team going up against Conestoga, one of the top-ranked high school LAX teams in the country. Enjoy, Patriot fans!!!

As always, individual images in the WebShow have also been posted to our online galleries under C.B. East Mens LAX 2011 Season. And families interested in viewing this year’s LAX WebShows on wide-screen, home-theatre TVs are most welcome to contact the studio for a set of DVDs. If you’ve enjoyed the WebShows here on the small-screen, you’ll be truly impressed when viewing our close-up images on the big-screen set to music in a home-theatre environment!

We at David Nicholas Photography & Design have enjoyed capturing some great Patriot moments during the 2011 season, and we extend our best wishes to this year’s senior Patriots in all their post-graduation plans!

CBE Lacrosse: Conestoga Defends District One Title With Powerful Comeback Win Over Patriots

We once again joined the Patriots — this time for their District One championship match against Conestoga on Thursday evening, May 26th, at Radnor High School. The Patriots took a quick lead over the Pioneers early in the match and held a 3-2 lead at the game’s half-time. However, after the half-time break, Conestoga regrouped and hit Central Bucks East with 5 consecutive goals during the 3rd period. That Patriots managed one more goal in the game, but Conestoga grabbed 3 more to successfully defend their District One Title with a final score of 10-4.

Our multimedia HD WebShow follows the Patriots as they experience a broad range of competitive emotions — from the highs of scoring quick goals early in the game… to the intensity of numerous physical encounters throughout the match… and ultimately to the quiet disappointment of having their 20-game winning streak of 2011 come to an end.

As always, images from the WebShow (as well as other season games) have also been posted to our online proofing galleries. So be sure to save your favorite images, and contact the studio for a very special end-of-season keepsake!

Both teams now head into the PIAA state tournament which begins Wednesday, June 1st. The Patriots begin the state tournament with a “rematch” against Ridley, whom they recently defeated in the District One quarter-final. Time and location are scheduled for 7PM at West Chester Henderson High School on June 1st. Based on the way in which the state tournament bracket is structured, C.B. East could conceivably meet with Conestoga again on June 7th if both teams win through to that semi-final match. Stay tuned! Go Patriots!!!

CBE Lacrosse: Patriots Set For Mettle Test with Top-Seeded Conestoga in District One Final

With Tuesday evening’s 11-7 semifinal win over Downingtown West now behind them, the Patriots of Central Bucks East will move deeper into post-season… and they’ll face their toughest “mettle test” this season against Conestoga on Thursday evening in the District One Championship to be held at Radnor High School. Meanwhile, Patriots fans can re-live highlights from the Downingtown West semifinal as we bring you right in close to much of the action with our most recent HD WebShow containing 75 high-impact, tight-in images that tell the story David-Nicholas style. Enjoy… and be inspired!!!

Thursday’s PIAA District One Championship Match between the Patriots (#2-seed) and the Pioneers (#1-seed) should make for a thrilling final District One match-up for 2011. The two teams have historically only competed during post-season tournaments. And if memory serves me correctly, Central Bucks East upset Conestoga early on in the 2006 post-season EPSLA tournament (on Conestoga turf), and the Pioneers avenged that loss with a win over the Patriots during the 2009 post-season (on neutral turf). So both teams have a bit of competitive history to settle this year. We wish the 2011 Patriots and their families all the best in the team’s first quest for a district title. Go Patriots!!!

PIAA Girls Soccer: Stoga Loses Heartbreaker to Archbishop Wood in Double Overtime

The final moments of last Wednesday evening’s PIAA Class AAA semi-final soccer match ticked by in a matter of 5-6 seconds. But in comparison to typical split-second soccer action, those 5-6 seconds seemed like an eternity as Conestoga fans watch in disbelief as Archbishop Wood’s game-wining goal meandered into the net — almost in dreamlike slow motion. The collision between Stoga goalie Amanda Walker and Wood forward Nicole Ahrens was strong enough to take most of the steam off Ahrens’ shot — but not strong enough to prevent the ball from slowly bouncing its way into the goal as Wood fans cheered their team onward to Saturday afternoon’s state championship match.

Our HD WebShow features 132 of our favorite still-images from the match — highlighting the intensity, raw emotion, and competitive spirit with which the game was played by both teams. So turn up the audio at your workstation, click the “play” icon in the video window below, and enjoy our video recap of the game as still-images set to music retell the story!

For viewers visiting our blog on a slower speed Internet connection, we have an alternate video that runs in a smaller, less-resource intensive video window which can be viewed by clicking this link.

Individual images from the game will also be posted soon to the online proofing section of our website, where you can view images one-by-one at your own pace in the PIAA Ladies Soccer Autumn 2010 Post-Season image gallery.

PIAA Girls Soccer: Stoga Dashes CB West’s Hopes for an Autumn 2010 Championship Run

Many a soccer match has come and gone this season. And the Lady Bucks of CB West certainly had the track record going into last Saturday’s quarterfinal match to work their almost-uncanny magic — much the way they had done throughout their regular season. But on Saturday, the Lady Bucks’ magic didn’t materialize when needed, as the Pioneers from Conestoga dashed CB West’s hopes for a championship run with a 2-1 victory — just under 3 minutes into the first overtime period.

Getting into overtime however was anything but routine, as the ladies from Stoga applied some of the most intense pressure the Lady Bucks have endured this season. And it wasn’t until the second period of regulation play that the Lady Bucks, showing a renewed sense of vigor, seriously threatened and ultimately succeeded in getting a ball through Stoga’s defense and into the goal — giving the Lady Bucks an early second period lead 1-0. (The first goal of the game was actually scored late in the first period by Stoga within seconds after a tough collision left CB West’s senior goalie Bree Benedict dazed on the field. That goal and the ensuing celebration were short-lived, however, due to an off-sides call against Stoga by one of the officials — resulting in what remained a scoreless, but intensely played, first period of regulation play.)

With nearly 10 minutes remaining in the second period of regulation play, Stoga tied the score 1-1 and almost scored a would-be victory goal in regulation. But 3 minutes of OT were required to officially call it a Conestoga victory — giving the Lady Bucks an earlier exit than planned from the PIAA Autumn 2010 Ladies Soccer Championship.

Our HD WebShow recaps much of the intensity with which the game was played, and highlights the emotional highs and lows that come when the harsh reality of a lost game in a single-elimination tournament sends one team home for the season despite their best efforts.

For those visitors on a slower broadband connection, you are invited to click this link to view our WebShow in a smaller, less resource-intensive video window. We’ll also post these and other images from the quarterfinal match in a PIAA Autumn 2010 Girls Soccer Championship photo gallery, located in the online proofing section of our web site — where you can view the images at your own pace.

Conestoga will now face District 12′s top-seed Archbishop Wood on Tuesday, November 16th in one of this season’s semifinal soccer matches — with the winner of that match earning a bus ride out to Hershey to play in this season’s final ladies soccer match on Saturday, November 20th.
